Remember that I said in the post yesterday that there would be DIY’s without real tutorials? This is one of those! I hope you like watching me create stuff without going into much detail…
I think this design came to me after watching waaay to many Nicki Minaj videos. I like her, I think she’s fun. And plus – I think I’ve reached an age where I can safely admit that I like crappy music without loosing too much dignity (like I had any dignity to begin with *snort*). Anyway, here’s how I created the NICKI BAG!
I used black leather from an old leather jacket, and brown suede from an old west.
I wanted the suede to be black too so I colored it with some textile paint.
I added glitter to the middle front part. I used the same varnish/glue mix I’ve used several times before in my DIY’s.
I made the pattern for the bag using A4 paper, nothing complicated!
The two strings of black leather dividing the glitter and suede areas turned out pretty nice. At this point I started contemplating if the fringe would be too much… Then I remembered that I like my things to be a little over the top. Heh.
Had to hand stitch the fringe before sewing together the front and back parts.
I have to say that this bag is one of the best bags that I have ever done! Yeaaah!
I realized quickly that I needed some lining.
Decided to use some green denim. This fabric comes from a pair of jeans that I wore when I was 10. I felt very cool in them back then. I think I paired them with some neon green canvas shoes…
Added some interfacing to the lining.
Yup, That’s it. :D
