Today I am going to show you how I made the items above!
First off I am going to show you how to make plain leather bracelets. You are going to need some type of fabric or leather. The important thing is that it is sturdy and that it will not fray. I am using black leather from an old jacket.
Measure up how wide and long around the wrist you want your bracelet to be. In this tutorial I cut out a 2.5 cm (1 inch)x 20 cm (7.8 inches) piece of leather.
Put some glue on (I used paper glue) the back of the leather and fold once and twice..
Secure with a few stitches on the back.
I like to use regular sew-on spring buttons for closure when I make leather bracelets.
I am now going to show you two different ways to add bows to the bracelets.
The first method is to use jump rings and a jewelry plier. Use jump rings that are as wide as the bracelet. It can be a bit difficult to figure out how much leather you will need for the bows, it depends on size of your jump rings and the bracelet, try things out using a cheaper fabric first!
…All I can say for sure is that you will need a rectangle shape to create the bow.
Once you figure out the size of the bow rectangles and have cut them out, string on the jump rings to the bracelet.
Before plying them shut, add the leather bows and try on the bracelet. Adjust bows if needed. Secure them by closing the jump rings and… The bracelet is done!
The other way to do bows is to make a small ring from the same leather, I made it the same way as I made the bracelets. Then add a rectangular piece of fabric through it, just like I did through the jump rings. Since the leather ring can’t be adjusted to fit the bow like the jump rings, you are going to need a bow that fits tightly in the ring to make it stay in place. This technique is definitely more suitable when making bigger bows.
I initially added this bow to a bracelet and then I figured I don’t even want a big ass bow on my wrist! I decided to make it into a necklace instead.
I slipped off the bow from the bracelet and got my hole punch. I made two small holes in the upper corners of the bow and added jump rings and a chain.
Then I decided to just continue punching holes down the sides and added jump rings to them as well.
When I was done with that I moved on to that left-over bracelet and punched holes in that too. Same type of jump rings were added and I got a new cool looking bracelet!
